It worked for me but i build the full wall first and one diagonal log. Ever since they fully implemented building stairs against the walls, you've had to build the full wall first. It still works for me. This is no longer working for me. I have built stone walls and then stairs from EA Release up until 1.0 version.
Take a plank and go near the two parallel logs. Now, press the right mouse button to add the planks horizontally between the two logs. Keep adding more planks by clicking the right mouse button to build your stairs completely in Sons of The Forest.
