To be fair, the forend stock was pretty nice with a good finish, decent checkering, and some good grain showing. Only the 45-70 and 450 M will interchange, and maybe the 444. Thinning down the fore end is asking for trouble because it will be so thin at the receiver that it will be prone to split.
